How to setup Google webmaster tool

Following steps will help you to set up Google webmaster tool for your website.

Steps:
1) Go to Google.com/webmasters. This is the official page of Google.

2) You require email id to access webmaster tool. If you don’t have then create new id on Gmail.com

3) Sign in to Google webmaster tool. The sign in button is located in the top right-hand side corner.

4) Now you are in the search console dashboard. The first step is to verify your website.

5) You will find “Add a property” button on the right-hand side. Click on that button to add your website.

6) Type your complete URL with HTTP extension in the field. The default selection will be a website. If you are verifying your Android app then select the second option from the drop down menu.

7) Click submit button to move to the next process.

8) The page will take you to the final verification tab. Google will provide several options to verify your site. They want to confirm that you have full access to your website and you are the owner of the site.

9) The verification options will be:
– Upload an HTML file to your site.
– Domain name provider.
– Google Analytics
– Google Tag Manager

10) You can any of the above options to verify the site. The recommended format is uploading HTML file in the root folder of your website.

11) Once you have uploaded the HTML file on your server, click verify button to complete the process.

If everything is done correctly, your site will get approved in Google webmaster and Google will start tracking your data.

Google webmaster will take 1 or 2 days to crawl your website and show some data in webmaster tool.
