WARSAW — Tech giant Amazon has unveiled a massive $6.23 billion (approx. PLN 25 billion) investment plan for Poland spanning the 2026–2028 period. This latest commitment reinforces Poland’s position as a critical logistics and technological hub for the company’s European operations.
Strategic Infrastructure & AI Focus
The investment will be distributed across several key sectors to modernize Amazon’s footprint in the country:
- Cloud & AI Infrastructure: A significant portion is earmarked for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to expand data center capacity, supporting the surging demand for generative AI tools among Polish enterprises and startups.
- Logistics Network: Funds will go toward the construction of two new high-tech fulfillment centers equipped with the latest-generation Amazon Robotics, aimed at increasing delivery speeds across Central and Eastern Europe.
- Tech Development: Continued expansion of the Amazon Development Centre Poland (ADCP) in Gdańsk, Warsaw, and Kraków, which remains a global leader in developing voice AI (Alexa) and text-to-speech technologies.
Economic Impact & Job Creation
Amazon, already the largest American employer in Poland, expects this three-year plan to generate substantial economic activity:
- Employment: The project is estimated to create over 5,000 new permanent roles, bringing Amazon’s direct workforce in Poland to nearly 25,000.
- SME Support: New “Export Acceleration” programs will be funded to help small and medium-sized Polish businesses scale their sales to international markets via the Amazon.pl marketplace.
- Green Energy: In line with its Climate Pledge, Amazon will invest in local renewable energy projects, including new wind and solar farms, to power its growing operations with 100% renewable energy by 2027.
“Poland has consistently proven to be a cradle of world-class engineering talent and a vital link in our global supply chain. This $6.23 billion investment is a testament to our long-term confidence in the Polish economy and its digital future.” — Amazon Corporate Statement
Context of Growth
This announcement follows a decade of aggressive expansion. Since entering the market in 2014, Amazon has invested over PLN 38 billion in Poland. The 2026–2028 plan represents an acceleration of that spending, as the company competes for dominance in the European e-commerce and cloud computing sectors.
